Marine Resource Assessments

Marine Resource MonitoringESS provides field evaluations and technical analyses to identify and evaluate coastal and offshore marine resources. These resource assessments may involve shipboard studies, modeling, literature review, and academic or agency consultations. ESS also uses tools like Global Positioning System (GPS) surveys, Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, and photogrammetric imagery interpretation to accurately locate and quantify marine resource areas.

Biological & Oceanographic Studies

ESS marine scientists and oceanographers have conducted surveys in a wide variety of marine and coastal habitats from New England and the Mid-Atlantic to Hawaii and the Caribbean. ESS has certified marine mammal, seabird, and sea turtle observers, and has an in-house laboratory for taxonomic identification of shellfish and other benthic invertebrates. Our comprehensive marine resource survey capabilities include:

  • Marine Geophysical and Geotechnical Survey Specifications/Oversight
  • Sediment Quality Sampling and Analyses
