ESS environmental engineers and scientists have provided due diligence, site characterization, assessments, feasibility studies, remedial design, and long-term monitoring at a variety of sites ranging from federal Superfund Sites with multi-media treatment systems to urban brownfield sites and small petroleum remediation sites.
Site Characterizations & Feasibility Studies
ESS’s site investigation approach is developed with a final solution in mind that incorporates current and anticipated property uses. Data are collected to allow site characterization, as well as to evaluate the best alternatives for sites impacted by historic site operations or conditions. This directed approach allows us to draw conclusions and keep projects moving towards completion in a timely, cost-effective manner.
ESS staff has extensive experience with assessment and characterization of contaminated sites ranging from site assessments for property transactions to urban redevelopments, PCB sites, energy facilities, waterfront improvements, and federal Superfund sites. ESS approaches site investigations keen to the overall cleanup objectives and developed field sampling programs, data management plans, and reporting templates that best represent the conditions on the site. ESS’s services for site investigations and feasibility studies on remediation sites includes:
Remediation / Cleanup Technologies
ESS has extensive experience in the design and implementation of a variety of remedial design technologies for sites where risk considerations require remedial action. Our environmental engineers, hydrogeologists, and environmental scientists have experience in selecting, designing, and implementing diverse remedial alternative technologies. This experience allows us to consider a wide range of conventional to innovative strategies to meet the project objectives as cost effectively as possible. These remediation/cleanup technologies have included containment and capping, soil excavation, groundwater pump and treat, monitored natural attenuation (MNA), soil vapor extraction, in-situ chemical oxidation, and NAPL Recovery (active and passive). ESS considers the technical feasibility, field deployment, and regulatory compliance of each proposed technology as critical. ESS’s services to support our remediation alternatives includes:
ESS has performed long-term operation maintenance and monitoring at a variety of sites ranging form federal Superfund Sites with multi-media treatment systems to limited petroleum remediation sites. Our professional staff have a wealth of experience in developing site-specific monitoring plans, construction management, and monitoring of complex physical and chemical treatment systems and capping/containment approaches.
