RiverGreen Technology Park
Everett, Massachusetts

The proposed RiverGreen Technology Park is a multi-use commercial center geared towards research and development for renewable energy, green technology, and biotechnology, with a focus on Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified site design, incorporating on-site renewable energy generation. The Project will be located at a 40-acre Brownfields site previously operated by General Electric as an aircraft engine manufacturing facility adjacent to the Malden River.

The Project will provide over 530,000 square feet of multi-story, flex-industrial buildings and will incorporate rooftop solar cells, wind turbine generators, and geothermal wells, with the goal of generating a significant portion of the total energy needs on site.

The Project will include public access and overlook locations to enhance public use and enjoyment of the Malden River and will incorporate a shuttle service open to the public and to RiverGreen tenants to the nearby Wellington Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority station.

ESS Group, Inc. and the Project Team are engaged in strategic site planning for maximum build-out and ease of permitting, drawing upon the ESS Team's comprehensive skills, including civil engineering, environmental assessment and remediation, permitting and regulatory expertise, renewable energy market development, and redevelopment of contaminated properties.

ESS is coordinating an extensive geotechnical investigation to assess appropriate foundation systems for the proposed buildings. Concurrently, ESS is developing stormwater management and utility installation plans for the proposed development.

Environmental assessments are being performed to support the development of remedial strategies and associated cost estimates for maintaining compliance with the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) and federal regulations. The environmental data will also be used to assess potential risks to human health under the envisioned future land use to ensure that appropriate remedial and risk management techniques are utilized.
