ESS Group, Inc. was retained by a
leading commercial insurance company to provide on-site support for its
Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) program at two of the company's facilities
in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The facilities consists of consist
of thirty buildings, with one of the facilities totaling over 200,000 square feet
and nine million cubic feet. Functions
supported by these centers include engineering and research laboratories that
provide data and strategic support, as well as laboratories for testing natural
hazards, electrical fixtures and equipment, hydraulics, and a dust explosion
bunker.
ESS conducts OSHA-required Hazard
Screenings to identify and mitigate hazards present in the buildings and laboratories. ESS develops and/or coordinates all
EHS-related training sessions for the laboratory personnel, including: machine
operation safety, respiratory hazard awareness, spill response, emergency
response, material handling, hot work, and fire extinguisher training. ESS also
has developed several Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures for several pieces of
equipment for one of the two facilities.
In order to track materials and quantities on site and the training
sessions for the personnel, ESS developed and implemented tracking databases
for each facility.
In addition, ESS assists this
company with day-to-day, on-site EHS requirements, such as hazardous materials
and waste management, inspections, reporting, regulatory assessments, and
development and management of protocols and procedures.
