Habitat Restoration

ESS Group, Inc. scientists and engineers possess the requisite technical skills and routinely work in partnership with federal and state agencies, municipalities, and non-profit associations to plan and implement habitat restoration. Our experience in habitat restoration ranges from baseline site characterization and modeling to design development, regulatory permitting, and monitoring.

ESS staff have conducted numerous Threatened & Endangered (T&E) species surveys and habitat assessments for aquatic, marine, and terrestrial fauna and flora. These efforts have involved extensive field programs and coordination with the US Fish & Wildlife Service, National Marine Fisheries Services, and state fish and wildlife Natural Heritage Programs.

Utilizing our extensive experience in the identification and delineation of wetlands and our understanding of wetland functional assessments, we develop specific restoration and mitigation goals for vegetative composition and structure, soils, hydrology, and wildlife habitat. This technical expertise allows us to develop wetland mitigation and restoration plans that are based on the combination of ecological principals and sound engineering practices. The success of wetland projects is a result of our experience in developing adaptable design plans and cost-effective solutions for our clients.

Clients benefit from our expertise in field assessment, planning, and design, and in representing the approach taken during review of the permit applications to ensure regulatory approval. In addition to developing habitat mitigation/restoration plans and drawings necessary for permit approval, a key component of our services is assisting in the implementation of these plans, conducting environmental inspections, and filing periodic monitoring reports with reviewing agencies to document compliance and successful project completion.
