Christopher Rein has been with ESS Group, Inc. since 1995. He is Senior Vice President and serves as Practice Leader of the Energy and Industrial Services Practice. Mr. Rein has been on the leading edge of energy facility development in the Northeast for nearly two decades. His ESS project teams have secured some of the first licenses under deregulation of electric generation markets, as well as approvals for renewables, in-city repowering, underground gas storage, and transmission upgrades. He is expert in the comprehensive evaluation of impacts related to the licensing of large, complex projects impacting air, water, and land-use resources. His recent experience includes the Cape Wind renewable energy project, a 5 bcf natural gas storage project, and generation projects in New York City and Rhode Island. Mr. Rein has also managed environmental inspection for construction on several of these projects, and continues to works with his clients on monitoring and compliance programs during operations.
Mr. Rein actively represents ESS as a member of several energy industry organizations including the Independent Power Producers of New York (IPPNY) and Northeast Energy and Commerce Association (NECA). He works to position ESS in the marketplace, ensure client satisfaction, and build ESS technical expertise and capabilities in energy facility siting and development. Mr. Rein is the lead for ESS clients pursuing innovative projects involving Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) and Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) technologies. His Energy and Industrial Services staff of engineers and scientists includes air quality modelers, noise experts, facility compliance consultants, toxic use reduction planners, and other environmental regulatory experts.
