Water Resources

ESS Group, Inc. is expert in many aspects of water resources management.

Clean water, contaminated water, storm water, wastewater, groundwater, and surface water - ESS can handle it all. Our staff provides comprehensive services in resource identification, evaluation, impact assessment, and permitting, as well as engineering to support infrastructure, treatment system design, and monitoring.

WATER SUPPLY

ESS helps clients find, permit, and manage water supplies. Our Water Resources Team has worked on numerous projects involving public and private drinking water supplies, irrigation water for golf facilities, and water supplies for power generation and industrial facilities. ESS has practical experience in the implementation of water allocation and water quality protection regulations. As a comprehensive services company, ESS also conducts field investigations, groundwater flow and transport modeling, and ecological impact assessments.

STORM WATER MANAGEMENT

The ESS Storm Water Team includes civil/site engineers, environmental permitting specialists, and wetland scientists. All have practical experience in the development and application of Best Management Practices, both structural and operational, for storm water management. ESS regularly develops Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans for land development and industrial clients, and has recently completed several Phase II storm water plans for municipal and institutional clients pursuant to recently revised USEPA regulations.

WASTEWATER

ESS wastewater experience covers a range of development and operational applications. Our design services support projects within our energy, industrial, and land development groups. Recent projects have included permitting and design for collection and package treatment systems, pumping stations, and a 3.7-mile municipal sewer interceptor. ESS also regularly assists clients with reporting and compliance for existing discharge permits, as well as permit renewals and modifications.

WATERSHED MANAGEMENT

ESS has completed more than 50 state-funded watershed management contracts, including lake and pond studies for municipalities and state recreation agencies. Our expertise includes non-point source pollution studies, quantitative assessment of hydrology and flow, sole source aquifer protection, recharge modeling, and biological evaluations to support minimum stream flow evaluations. ESS staff have participated in TMDL development for water bodies in Massachusetts, as well as state and federally funded non-point source pollution prevention programs.
