Energy Facility Development
Over the past 15 years, ESS Group, Inc. has provided permitting services for more than 9300 MW of proposed power generation and 500 miles of proposed energy-related transmission facilities. These projects have included everything from wind farms and submarine electric transmission cables to biomass generation facilities and underground gas storage. Our project locations range from islands in the Caribbean and Hawaii to urban centers in the Mid-Atlantic and New England. |

A Leader in Green Energy |
ESS permitted one of the first wind energy installations in Massachusetts at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and has undertaken numerous feasibility studies for both onshore and offshore wind projects. Other ESS wind projects include a proposed ridgeline installation in Vermont, a 200 MW wind farm in upstate New York, and the Hull Offshore Wind Energy Facility in Massachusetts, which received federal stimulus funds in 2009. Our largest wind energy project is Cape Wind, which proposes the installation of up to 130 wind turbines in the federal waters of Nantucket Sound. |

Keeping the Lights On |
ESS has been involved with some of the largest and most innovative energy projects developed in the Northeast in the past decade. These include new gas-fired combined-cycle generation, merchant transmission, gas repowering of existing oil-fired facilities, and nuclear facility redevelopment. Current assignments include a carbon sequestration proposal, an offshore electric transmission hub for renewable power integration, multiple biomass generation facilities, and electric transmission projects that will bring power from generation centers to urban load pockets. |
