Joshua Burgoyne, Environmental Scientist - Ecological Science & Environmental Permitting
Joshua Burgoyne (Josh) joins ESS as an Environmental Scientist in the Ecological Science & Environmental Permitting group. Josh graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a BS in Environmental Science and Management. He joins ESS from the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) Office of Compliance and Inspection, where he was a Senior Natural Resource Specialist. In that role, Josh routinely conducted biological field inspections for the Freshwater Wetlands, Water Pollution, and Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems Programs. His experience includes delineation of wetlands; review of permit applications and construction plans; project management for wetlands restoration projects; and regulatory compliance assistance for businesses and property owners.
Jacqueline Amante, Project Assistant - Ecological Science & Environmental Permitting
Jacqueline (Jacki) Amante joins ESS as a Project Assistant in the Ecological Science & Environmental Permitting group. She holds an MS in Earth Science: Geochemical Systems Specialization and a BS in Environmental Science: Ecosystems Specialization, both from the University of New Hampshire. Prior to ESS, Jacki worked for the National Ecological Observatory Network, where she was an Aquatic Field Technician. Her experience includes aquatic sampling, water quality data collection, air quality measurements, and limnological research. Additionally, Jacki serves as the Executive Director of the MA Congress of Lake and Pond Associations (COLAP), where she monitors proposed environmental legislative actions, as well as develops workshops for the organization’s members.
Elizabeth Lorenz, Marketing Assistant
Elizabeth (Liz) Lorenz joins ESS as a Marketing Assistant. Liz graduated from Roger Williams University with a BA in Journalism. Previously with the Providence Business News (PBN), Liz is experienced in writing and publication design. At PBN, Liz conducted research for the publication’s annual “The Book of Lists,” as well as other data-driven news features. Her experience also includes work as an Editorial Intern and Freelance Writer with Providence Media, as well as a Media Communication Intern at Oggi Photography.
Brenda Lam, Staff Engineer & GIS Analyst, Water & Coastal Engineering
Brenda Lam joins ESS as a Staff Engineer and GIS Analyst in the Water & Coastal Engineering group. She is a graduate of Syracuse University where she earned a BS in Environmental Engineering with a minor in Geography. During her Senior Design Capstone Project, Brenda worked with National Grid to investigate sustainable permeable paving designs for access roads using geosynthetic material. She also facilitated a stormwater management project design in Upstate New York, where she served as a Research Assistant. Brenda’s experience includes green infrastructure, environmental compliance and remediation, stormwater management design, water resources, environmental site assessment, water quality analysis and modeling, and construction project management. Her skillset includes ESRI GIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble GPS technology, environmental field sampling, and field work in aquatic environments.
Ann Salas, Administrative Assistant & Document Coordinator
Ann Salas joins ESS as an Administrative Assistant and Document Coordinator. Ann previously worked with the architectural firm Sasaki Associates, where she served as a Studio Assistant. Her experience also includes project coordination and management, marketing, customer services, and graphic design in the web development and publication industries. Ann brings design experience, as well as exceptional organization and management skills to her role at ESS. Ann holds a BA in Psychology and Mass Communications, with concentrations in Public Relations and Advertising from East Tennessee State University.
Andrew Fallon, Environmental Scientist - Water & Coastal Engineering
Andrew (Andy) Fallon joins ESS as an Environmental Scientist in the Water & Coastal Engineering group. Andy brings a diverse blend of experience to his new position. As a graduate student, he conducted research in coastal geology ranging from beach face surveys and ground-penetrating radar transects of sediment stratigraphy to historic shoreline mapping and development of 3-D digital topographic models. He holds an MS in Marine Science, with a concentration in Coastal Geology from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS). He also holds a BS in both Geology and Earth Systems (and a certificate in Coastal and Marine Science) from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (UMass).
